Thank you for your interest in the music program at Colorado State University. Because Colorado State University has established a reputation for excellence and has so many fields of study available to you, we hope you will give our school serious consideration.
We urge you to apply for admission to the University as soon as possible during your senior year. An audition is required for admission into any of the music degree programs. Whether or not you plan to major in music, scholarships are available if you participate in the Arts at Colorado State. A short scholarship audition is all that is necessary, and you are encouraged to audition on Scholarship Audition Day or one of the High School Visit Days. You may audition for a scholarship prior to admission to the university.
Colorado State has several unique features. It is the only university in Colorado and in the Rocky Mountain region that offers a degree in music therapy, and this degree program is one with an international reputation of excellence. The department encompasses all three of the major performing arts: music, theatre, and dance. This creates special opportunities for programs and courses, which draw on the interdisciplinary character of the arts. As part of the School of the Arts, the music department represents the performing arts on campus in a highly visible and prestigious environment. Musical performance opportunities are very extensive. The department sponsors two orchestras, three bands, several choirs, two jazz bands, an opera company, musical theatre, and several chamber music ensembles. These are open to all Colorado State students.
