Masters Degree in Music Education with Kodály Emphasis
This 30 credit degree can be completed in 3 summers and is designed to meet the needs of music educators who are currently teaching during the traditional school year. Based on the philosophy of Zoltan Kodály, students receive training in solfege, pedagogy, folk song research, and methodology (15 credits). Nine credits of the degree are in theory (3 credits), history (3 credits), and music research (3 credits). Graduate level classes in General Music, further study in Kodály, and additional workshops complete the degree. No thesis or recital is required, but students must complete a comprehensive written and oral examination.
