The American Music Therapy Association Archives

Colorado State University is home to a unique collection of letters, papers, publications, audio-video materials and artifacts representing over 80 years of music therapy practice in the United States. The collection was established in 1998 at CSU in conjunction with the American Music Therapy Association. Containing over 3,000 pieces of historical and contemporary music therapy literature and materials from every section the country, the CSU/American Music Therapy Association collection is the largest accumulation of such artifacts housed in a North American university. Known internationally as an exceptional collection, it not only offers a window into the past practices of music therapists, but also represents a rich resource for current and future music therapy activity.

The collection is open to interested scholars by appointment. For more information or to set up an appointment please contact Dr. William Davis at william.davis@colostate.edu.
